On 10 October, to mark World Mental Health Day, LGIS delivered a webinar for all members and their staff to learn some practicals ways to improve their mental health.

Over 150 people registered and a number of members organised events in conjunction with the webinar, which aimed to help participants identify actions that cause negativity in their lives, and provided practical ways to help manage and improve mental health and wellbeing day to day

The video recording of the session is now available for all members to view. Here is the recording link for today's webinar - Mental Health Matters (the link expires on 10 November 2023).

The webinar titled 'Mental Health Matters' was presented by Simon Mathews, Psychologist at Vitality Works, which is one of our health and wellbeing providers offering a range of services including diet, exercise, nutrition and health assessments.

Simon talked about how mental wellbeing is driven by a range of factors like socioeconomic, biological and environmental, and how individuals can work towards these factors to stay happy and strong.

Talking about mental health in this day and age is all the more important because of the alarming statistics we have seen in recent years.  Around 3M Australians are currently living with anxiety and depression.

The webinar covered an important discussion about how pillars of lifestyle medicine, such as nutrition, exercise, social activity and proper sleep, can help individuals achieve desired mental and physical health goals.
